Virtual Reality Changes How We Will Hold Meetings

Dateline: March 18, 2016

Welcome to our Friday WRAP – one thought-provoking idea to think about over the weekend.

This week, I’ve been at SXSW Interactive scouting out innovative ideas and identifying trends.  SXSWi celebrated it’s 30 anniversary this year, and the conference was as overwhelming as ever with hundreds of sessions, speakers, and events to attend over a 5 day period.  One trend that has been gaining momentum over the past few years, but seems to be breaking out these days is the use of virtual reality for more than games.  Dozens of vendors in the trade show, and many speakers in the sessions talked about new and innovative uses of VR for businesses.  I did some research and found a quote by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg that I’m sharing here as our thought for this weekend.

Mark spoke at the Mobile World Congress on February 22, 2016, and was quoted in SmartMeetings.com as saying,

“Imagine holding a group meeting or event anywhere in the world,” Zuckerberg said, after making a surprise appearance at Samsung Electronics Co.’s unveiling of a new 360-degree VR camera. “Right now, virtual reality is mostly used for games and entertainment, but that’s quickly evolving. One day you’ll be able to put on a headset that’ll change the way you live, work and communicate.

How will VR change the way you and your colleagues meet?  What can you do now to begin to experiment with this new technology?

That’s a WRAP!  Have a fantastic weekend!
