Gartner’s Predictions: IT Trends for 2013

Dateline: February 22, 2013

Welcome to our Friday WRAP – one thought-provoking idea to think about over the weekend.

Recently, Gartner published their annual state-of-the-CIO survey results.  They concluded that today’s senior IT leaders are in a period of transition, realizing that there is so much more potential to harness from today’s technology.  CIO Insight summarized the findings with this list:

  1. Global IT budgets will decrease by .5% this year
  2. Enterprises are taking advantage of only 43% of tech’s business potential
  3. Number one business priority for CIOs in 2013 is increasing enterprise growth, followed by delivering operational results and reducing enterprise costs
  4. Tech priorities for 2013 are BI/analytics, mobile and cloud (social tech doesn’t appear in the top 10)
  5. 70% of CIOs say mobile tech will be the most disruptive tech in 2013
  6. 67% of CIOs have a significant leadership role outside of IT
  7. 20% of CIOs are also the chief digital officer for their enterprise

How does your environment track with these findings?  Do your top enterprise priorities track with these findings?  What are your top tech priorities?

That’s a WRAP!  Have a wonderful weekend.
