Welcome to our Friday WRAP – one thought-provoking idea to think about over the weekend.
One of my friends and colleagues published a great blog recently offering Enterprise Startup Lessons from Muhammad Ali. Michael Krigsman, President of Asuret, and frequent blogger on lessons from IT Failures for ZD Net, interviewed the CEO of a startup analytics vendor, comparing his strategy to the famous words of Muhammad Ali, “I’m gonna float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.” Michael even found video clips of Ali saying how he was going to beat George Foreman, and of his fight and victory over Sonny Liston. Michael pointed out that,
Ali’s comments reflect innovation, agility, and confidence backed by execution and skill… The video below (of Cassius Clay vs Sonny Liston) shows Muhammad Ali putting agility into practice — watch him dance lightly with intelligence, focus, and intense determination.
Although Michael looked at the lessons from Muhammad Ali’s success in the context of start ups, agility is a key characteristic sought by many IT organizations.
What are the applications of Muhammad Ali’s comments for IT? How can the lessons from Ali’s success apply to you and your organization?
That’s a WRAP. Have a nice weekend.
