Welcome to our Friday WRAP – one thought-provoking idea to think about over the weekend.
With information security in the headlines over the past few weeks, it’s also time to remind ourselves that all the technology in the world won’t help our organizations be cyber resilient if the people in the organization inadvertaintly create vulnerabilities. That was the message my colleague, MIT Sloan School Professor Stuart Madnick, raised in a recent article in HealthCare IT News, titled As Hackers Become More Destructive, Security Needs an All Hands Approach, which summarized a presentation he gave at the HealthCare Security Forum conference earlier this month. In his talk, he suggests,
There’s an assumption among executives that security is merely a technology issue that should be left for the IT people to resolve, said Madnick. But even if an organization keeps its door bolted, so to speak, if the key is left under the mat — it’s not really secure.
Organizations need methods, processes, procedures and a cyber security culture. How has your organization propagated a cybersafe culture? What does a mature, cyber safe culture look like for your organization?
That’s a WRAP! Have a great weekend!
