Transforming into a Data-Driven Organization

Dateline: April 10, 2015

Welcome to our Friday WRAP – one thought-provoking idea to think about over the weekend.

Data-driven transformation means morphing your organization into an enterprise with a culture and decision-making structure based on KPIs and analytics.  Today, it’s the goal of many organizations to become data-driven.  CIO magazine recently wrote about the Seven Principles of Data-Driven Transformation that had some insightful ideas about this journey.  Their seven principles are:

Principle 1: Embark on an insights journey within your business and technology context
Principle 2: Enable your data landscape for the flood from connected people and things
Principle 3: Create a data science and analytics culture
Principle 4: Unleash Data- and Insights-as-a-Service
Principle 5: Make insight-driven value a crucial business KPI
Principle 6: Master the governance, security and privacy of your data assets
Principle 7: Empower your people with insights at the point of action

This list lays out a simple roadmap for transforming into a data-driven organization.  But Principle 4: Unleash Data- and insights-as-a-service is particularly thought provoking.

What would Data-as-a-Service and Insights-as-a-Service look like in your organization?  How might you deliver them?

That’s a WRAP!  Have a fantastic weekend!
