Recently, well-known CIO advisor and recruiter, Martha Heller, published an interview with Rich Richardson, CIO of Spirit AeroSystems, about managing complexity in the information systems organization. What caught my eye was the focus on reducing complexity and the value of simplicity. Heller concluded the article with,
CIOs focused on speeding up delivery face a cultural wall of complexity and risk-aversion that has been building for at least 30 years. Seeking out opportunities to remove complexity may be the best way to tear down that wall.
