Nurturing Your Personal Network

Dateline: April 29, 2016

Welcome to our Friday WRAP – one thought-provoking idea to think about over the weekend.

Even busy people need to find time to network; building and nurturing your personal network of contact is done best when you don’t need it.  That way, when you need it, it’s there and ready for you.  Recently, Fast Company published an insightful article about the 8 Common Networking Disasters And How To Avoid Them.  The networking mistakes they wrote about are:

  1. Trying to collect as many business cards as possible
  2. Being too casual
  3. Sending a resume without being asked
  4. Making meeting up inconvenient
  5. Being unprepared for the first meeting
  6. Misusing LinkedIn
  7. Not following up after a meeting
  8. Not offering your help

When was the last time you nurtured your personal network?  What can you do this weekend to strengthen it?

That’s a WRAP!  Have a great weekend!
